1. Fight. Please allow me to repeat that, fight you butt off, never, never give up.
2. Always think positive
3. Understand to accept your journey. Know it's going to be tough, demanding, challenging, painful, costly just very hard.
4. Communicate. Talk to your health care team. Just as important, communicate with your family & friends. They are concerned and want to help. Not talking to them will just make them worry and scared. They are there to help. Help them to help you by communicating.
5. This is just for men. You big bad ass mean tough as nails Homo Sapient you. Give it up. Now is not the time to be that male ego poster child. Be honest with your health care team. If it hurts tell them. If you have a question, ask them. If you are scared and concerned communicate to them. If you don't communicate true feedback, they can't help you.
6. As I mention before, there are a lot of events to juggle. It can get confusing. My suggestion is to make a schedule of your appointments, test, doctor phone calls, etc. This process will make sure you are on point with your time interfacing with your health care team.
7. Talking about schedules, make a schedule of your "you time". Make sure you have an activity ever day and stick to it.
8. When you just don't feel like doing anything, try again. If you still persist on not doing anything, don't push it. Just don't make a habit of it.
